Pindi DC orders display of price lists at shops

The Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq has directed shopkeepers to display price lists at a prominent place and ensure the quality of commodities of daily use items. During a visit to a Ramazan Bazaar set up at Adaila Road on Thursday, he said the promise of providing relief to the citizens through ‘sasta bazaars’ made by the government would be fulfilled and every effort is being made to provide maximum relief to the citizens. The DC directed the authorities to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding coronavirus at the bazaar according to guidelines issued by the Punjab government. He warned that any complaint regarding sugar shortage would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those creating an artificial hike. Read more: How to stay fit in Ramazan Haq said that the objective of setting up Ramazan bazaars is to provide daily use items to the residents at controlled rates, adding any shopkeeper found involved in hoarding, profiteering and adulteration of items would not only be fined but would also be arrested. The DC further asked the price control magistrates to spend maximum time in the field and ensure the quality and quantity of daily use items in the markets. Meanwhile, chairing a meeting of the price control committee at his office, Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abdullah briefed the DC that 1,197 raids were carried out in a day in various areas of the district while a fine of Rs220,000 was imposed on violators of SOPs at 129 points.
