Boy who was beaten by stepfather gets gifts from police officers

In a humane gesture, police officers brought fruits, flowers, and gifts to the home of a minor who was tortured by his stepfather for eating a banana. Recently, a video went viral in which a man, Naveed Ahmed, is seen torturing his stepson, Muhammad Tayyab, with a plastic pipe for eating fruit in the Pahguari area in the precincts of Bani police station. Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younis took notice of the incident after which the child's stepfather was arrested and a case registered. Bani Police Station SHO Shafqat Mehmood and SHO Women along with Waris Khan Police Station DSP Farhan Aslam reached Tayyab’s house with fruits, bouquets, toys, and gifts. While talking to the child’s mother, the police officers committed to helping Tayyab and his younger brother, Huzaifa, continue their education which they could not continue due to domestic and economic reasons. The CPO said he would ensure that Tayyab would not face any further violence in future. He added that inhumane violence against children was shameful and such conduct was detrimental in raising the next generation. Published in The Express Tribune, April 23rd, 2021.
