137 people test positive in garrison city

The District Health Coordinator Dr Jawad Nazir said that with an addition of 137 more Covid cases on Sunday, the tally of confirmed cases rose to 23,132 in the district with 21,320 from Rawalpindi and 1812 from other districts. He informed that 4,012 people having positive results were in quarantine, including 2,293 at home and 1719 in isolation while only 218 confirmed patients were admitted to various facilities of the district. Moreover, around 450,338 persons have been tested for Covid-19 from spread of the virus in March 2020 till date in the entire division. According to data issued by the Commissioner’s office, 26,672 cases were declared confirmed, including 22,674 from Rawalpindi, 2,153 Jehlum, 979 Chakwal and 472 from Attock district while results of 329,604 came out negative. The data showed that 1242 have so far died during the period with 1,102 from Rawalpindi, 56 from Jehlum, 78 from Chakwal and six from Attock. Read more: Sindh records highest one-day tally since Jan "The positivity ratio of cases during the past week was reported 5.9 per cent in Rawalpindi, 3.10 per cent in Jehlum, 5.12 per cent in Chakwal and six per cent in Attock, the data highlighted. Meanwhile, as many as 77,687 people have been jabbed against the lethal virus from 24 centres operating across the district since the vaccination drive launched on March 10. District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Jawad Khalid said that 15,342 frontline workers and 62,345 people, including senior citizens, have received the shots so far. He added that vaccination for the age group of 50 years and above was underway at 24 centres of the district. The DHO informed that the vaccination centres were operating in two shifts during the month of fasting. The first shift ran from 10am to 4pm and the second one from 9pm to 1am, he added.
