Pakistan reports 26 Covid-19 related deaths in last 24 hours

Pakistan on Monday reported 26 Covid-19 related deaths during the last 24 hours, taking the country's total death toll to 11,638. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), most deaths were reported in Punjab, followed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The NCOC added that 15 out of the 26 Covid-19 patients died on the ventilator during the last 24 hours. The highest number of ventilators occupied in the country was found to be in Multan with 41 per cent occupancy, followed by Islamabad at 37 per cent, Lahore 35 per cent and Peshawar 28 per cent. Meanwhile, the highest number of oxygen bed occupancy in the country was in Peshawar at 42 per cent followed by Karachi with 35 per cent, Multan 34 per cent and Bahawalpur 27 per cent. Cases by province The centre reported 1,615 new cases as the total number of cases jumped to 546,428. The total number of active cases in Pakistan were reported to be at 33,493. Read More: Pakistan extends Covid-19 SOPs for inbound flights till February 28 The number of active cases in Sindh was 11,031, 11,431 in Punjab, 6,077 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), 5,059 in Islamabad, 438 in Balochistan, 400 in Gilgit Baltistan and 349 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Covid-19 related death by province Out of the 11,638 total reported deaths, there had been about 3,996 deaths in Sindh, 4,747 in Punjab, 1,906 in K-P, 475 in Islamabad. About 195 deaths had been reported in Balochistan and 102 deaths in G-B and 262 in AJK. According to NCOC, about 1,278 patients had recovered from the deadly pandemic in the last 24 hours taking total recoveries to 501,252. The NCOC also reported that a total of 7,966,981 tests had been conducted since the outbreak of the virus. There are about 631 hospitals with Covid-19 facilities with 2,541 patients admitted across the country, it added.
