10pm ban on outdoor dining lifted in Islamabad

The Islamabad administration has lifted the restriction imposed on restaurants and cafes to close at 10pm. The eateries, however, have been told to continue serving food only in the open air. It has been stressed that indoor dining remains strictly banned and action would be taken against any restaurants and cafes found flouting the order. As per a notification issued by the district magistrate on Thursday, the decision to let the restaurants stay open after 10pm was taken in the light of the National Command and Operation Centre's recent directions.   Read more: Covid-19 vaccination drive to kick off from next week: Asad The notification said the closing time for all other commercial centres, markets and shopping malls, except for essential services such as medical stores and petrol pumps, would remain the same as notified earlier. Restrictions on closing recreational areas by 6pm would also remain in place, it said, adding that the visitors must follow all relevant Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government to curb its spread.
